So we have been working on a game in the office called Marauder. Its currently running on Fig.co a crowdfunding/investment platform.
What is it?
Multiplayer space pirates!
More specifically, Marauder is a quintessential space pirate multiplayer game where you explore an industrialized deep space set around the 1990s. Earth has expanded its industry to the point where law and order is out of reach, the new wild west. Raid colonies, factories and space stations for valuable loot or board other player's ships take their gear by force and return to your base before your oxygen runs out.
It’s inspired by the kind of games we enjoy playing in the office: Escape From Tarkov, Day Z, Rainbow 6 Siege and survival games in general. Even at its current pre-alpha stage, it has some really tense and engaging gameplay and people seem to be enjoying it which is super cool.
We developed the game in our spare time to a pre-Alpha level and then launched it on fig, being very clear that the game was/is a work in progress. We expected a slow launch allowing us to build up momentum over time, aiming to hit a milestone every month. However, things didn’t go like that ha. We got picked up by several Youtubers and had a PCgamesN article which boosted interest in us and we ended up smashing through the first 3 milestones in around 10 days. It’s exciting and fun to work on and I’m looking forward to seeing where the game goes.
Here is the video from our Fig Page which explains a bit more about the game:
