Here is a little tip that will help you out if you have some messy/complex blueprints.
Did you know you can highlight connection lines to make them easier to follow?
If you would prefer to watch the video version, check it out here
This is super simple, all you need to do is Hold Shift and Click on a connection line between two nodes. Doing this will make that line brighter and bolder and will lower the opacity of the other connection lines in your event graph.
This makes it easier to track a connection through and behind other nodes.
You can cancel this highlight by Holding Shift and Clicking on the same connection line again.
This can also be used in exactly the same way in the material editor as well.
You can also highlight multiple connection lines at the same time if you Shift Click on a node pin, like in the example below.
In nice tidy blueprints this isn’t fantastically useful. However it becomes far more useful as your event graph grows in complexity or becomes more messy. As you can see below we can highlight the connection line and easily follow it across the event graph.
This works in exactly the same way in Unreal Engine 5 as well.
I’ve been using this loads since I found out about it, so I wanted to share it with you too. Its definitely one of those little tips that’s worth knowing about.
